Nigerians have taken to social media to criticise a member of the House of Representatives Alex Ikwechegh over his apology for his “unacceptable behaviour” towards a Bolt driver Stephen Abuwatseya.
Mr Abuwatseya was delivering a package to Ikwechegh on Zamfara Crescent in Maitama, Abuja on October 27 when a dispute arose concerning the method of delivery.
The lawmaker threatened to make the driver “disappear” without consequences.
On Monday, he was interrogated by the police following a petition by Abuwatseya.
However, in a statement, the lawmaker said he was sorry for his actions, noting that they were unbecoming of a public official.
Some Nigerians, including actress Kate Henshaw, on X have labelled the apology insincere, asking the police to prosecute the lawmaker.
