Senate postpones screening of Bianca Ojukwu, others

The Senate on Tuesday announced the postponement of the screening of seven ministerial nominees.

The ministerial nominees forwarded to the Senate by President Bola Tinubu last week include Nentawe Yilwatda for minister of humanitarian affairs and poverty reduction; Muhammadu Dingyadi for minister of labour and employment and Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu for minister of state for foreign affairs.

Others are Jumoke Oduwole for minister of industry, trade and development; Idi Maiha for minister of livestock development; Yusuf Ata for minister of state for housing and Suwaiba Ahmad for minister of state for education.

The screening was earlier scheduled for Tuesday. It was however postponed because some of the nominees had yet to complete documentation.

Citing reasons for the postponement in a statement, special adviser to the president on Senate matters, Senator Basheer Lado, said it was to allow the nominees to conclude documentation and pre-screening exercise.

“The screening has been rescheduled for Wednesday, October 30,” he said.
