Social media personality Martins Otse widely known as VeryDarkMan has publicly apologised to the Nigeria Police Force for wearing a police uniform in a recent video.

Last Saturday, QEDNG reported that the police condemned VeryDarkMan’s unauthorised use of the uniform and launched an investigation into the matter.

In the video that stirred controversy, the online personality humorously presented himself as a “chief superintendent of police (CSP) of the online division” while dressed in a police uniform.

Following this, he was summoned by the police. On Wednesday night, he released a video on Instagram, apologising for his action.

VeryDarkMan also advised Nigerians to ensure they have proper authorisation before using police attire to avoid any misunderstanding or legal issues.

He stated, “Back from the police station where I was questioned over the post I made wearing a costume that the police claimed resembled theirs. I didn’t mean to impersonate the police in any way, and I sincerely apologize to the Nigeria Police Force and the office of the Inspector General of Police.”

He added, “I’d like to remind the public to seek permission from law enforcement agencies before using anything that might resemble their uniforms. While one may have good intentions, others might misuse it, so it’s best to obtain full approval to prevent any issues. Thanks also to my lawyer, @adeyanjudeji, who is always ready to stand by me.”
