Veteran actor Abdulsalam Sanyaolu, widely known as Charles Olumo or Agbako, has been buried in Atan Ota, Ogun State, according to Islamic rites.
A live stream captured the solemn moment as the body of the actor, wrapped in a mat and white clothing material, was carefully lowered into a grave.
The video also featured Islamic clerics in attendance, offering prayers and reciting Quranic verses before the grave was covered.
Actress Idowu Phillips popularly known as Mama Rainbow was also present at the burial.
Actress Foluke Daramola earlier announced in an Instagram post that he would be buried by 4pm on Thursday.
In the video, Foluke expressed sorrow over Agbako’s death, revealing details of the planned burial.
The post included moments with Agbako’s family members, showing his grieving sisters and scenes of a grave being prepared.
The actress captioned the video, “RIP to my rare gem. I will surely miss you, Baami.”
Earlier, president of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association (TAMPAN) Bolaji Amusan, popularly known as Mr. Latin, announced Agbako’s death on Instagram.
Posting a photo of the actor, Mr. Latin wrote, “@tampanglobal announces the passing of Pa Charles Olumo Sanyaolu, fondly known as AGBAKO.
“Details of the burial arrangements will be shared at a later time. Good night, father. 25/02/1923 to 31/10/2024.”
The news sparked an outpouring of condolences from fans and fellow actors, commemorating Agbako’s career and impact on the film industry.
Born in 1923, Agbako was celebrated for his memorable portrayals of powerful, often fearsome characters — chiefs, warriors and villains.
Off-screen, he maintained a private family life with his two wives and five children.
