Bobrisky flown to Abuja over bribery allegation

Crossdresser Idris Okuneye popularly known as Bobrisky has been flown to the Abuja headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for questioning regarding bribery.

Bobrisky was re-arrested on Thursday night at the Murtala Muhammad International Airport in Lagos as he attempted to travel to London.

Immigration officers detained him following orders from the EFCC which has been investigating his allegation of bribing its officials to drop money laundering case against him.

During detention, Bobrisky took to Instagram where he informed his followers about his arrest, claiming he was injured in a confrontation with the officers.

“Nigerians, help me! EFCC just arrested me. I’m badly injured,” he wrote.

Reports indicate that Bobrisky’s arrest stemmed from his alleged failure to respond to multiple invitations by the EFCC.

According to Punch, an EFCC official confirmed that Bobrisky would be flown to Abuja on Friday.

“We arrested him in Lagos today, and he’ll be flown to Abuja today. He accused us of bribery and corruption; we invited him several times, but he did not show up. Those allegations are too significant to ignore,” the source said.

The official added that Bobrisky had also failed to appear before the National Assembly regarding the matter, leaving the EFCC no choice but to detain him to seek clarification on his claims.

On Friday morning, EFCC’s head of media and publicity Dele Oyewale confirmed Bobrisky’s transfer to Abuja.

In September, a voice note was circulated online by social media personality VeryDarkMan.

In the voice note, Bobrisky allegedly claimed he paid N15 million to EFCC officers to drop money laundering charges against him, an allegation the agency denies.
