Group managing director (GMD) of Sujimoto Holdings Olasijibomi Ogundele has returned to social media following his detention by operatives of the Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID) of the Nigerian police in Abuja over alleged fraud involving $325,000.
Mr Ogundele reported at the FCID Abuja on Wednesday after allegedly ignoring an earlier invitation in May, it was gathered.
The FCID’s investigation followed a petition by a lawyer Pelumi Olajengbesi to the deputy inspector-general of police in charge of criminal investigations.
The petition claimed Ogundele’s real estate firm Sujimoto Construction Limited received $325,000 from a client Kabiru Ibrahim for a real estate deal since November 2020 and failed to deliver on the project or refund the money.
The sum, according to the petition, was meant for the 50 per cent payment of the agreed sum of $650,000 for a property of one unit of a three-bedroom flat located at an estate known as LeonardoBySujimoto Homes.
Spokesperson for the FCID Funmi Eguaoje confirmed the ongoing probe to Premium Times, while noting that Ogundele was detained on Wednesday when he could not meet his bail conditions.
She said the businessman met the bail conditions Thursday night.
On his return to Instagram on Saturday, Ogundele shared a video of himself appearing to be busy with work with some persons.
He captioned the post, “If you don’t throw dice, how will you hit six? It’s all about the spirit of perseverance and never giving up. When society tells you ‘NO’, respond with ‘WHY NOT’?
“Remember, it’s never too late to chase your dreams. God bless your hustle. 1 + 1 = 11. It’s already too late to fail!.”
