Actor Yemi Solade has reacted to the criticism trailing Davido’s performance at the birthday celebration of London-based Pastor Tobi Adegboyega.

Delta State governor’s senior special assistant on media Ossai Success expressed disappointment in an Instagram post on Monday, condemning Adegboyega’s decision to invite Davido.

Ossai described the act as “an embarrassment to the gospel” and urged the pastor to seek forgiveness, suggesting that he should have opted for gospel musicians instead.

“I’m disappointed in Pastor Tobi for inviting Davido to his birthday party. This is an embarrassment to the gospel; he should ask God for forgiveness,” Ossai wrote.

“As the founder of Salvation Proclaimers Anointed Church, Pastor Tobi Adegboyega’s actions appeared unrighteous, embarrassing the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. As a pastor, he should have invited Gospel musicians to minister to his guests and save souls.”
Ossai further questioned why Pastor Tobi frequently engages in actions he believes “lack the fruit of the Spirit,” stating that a pastor should not celebrate birthdays with secular performances.

Reacting to the criticism in a comment on a blog that reposted Ossai’s statement, Yemi Solade posed a question to Ossai, “Is David Adeleke not a Child of God and a Fellow Christian?”

Adegboyega’s birthday party on Sunday drew widespread attention, with celebrities such as Davido, Obi Cubana, Zlatan Ibile, KCee and Nkechi Blessing in attendance.

The celebration has sparked a debate among Nigerians questioning the appropriateness of secular musicians performing at a pastor’s event.
