The third edition of Artsforchange Foundation’s annual Arts Challenge is set to take place on Thursday, November 14, 2023.
Supported by the Lagos State Inland Revenue Service (LIRS), this year’s promises to showcase emerging artistic talent from across Nigeria, organisers of the competition said in a statement made available to QEDNG.
“The event will be held at the Kunle Afolayan Production Hub (KAP Hub) in Ikeja, adding an extra layer of prestige to the competition,” the project promoter Titiloye Amzat said.
With the theme ‘Cityscape, City Life,’ “this year’s challenge invites participants to creatively interpret urban life, highlighting the dynamic and multifaceted character of Nigerian cities, Mr Amzat added.
Speaking further, he said “this year’s competition saw a remarkable surge in entries from young artists nationwide. The increased participation reflects the growing enthusiasm among Nigerian youth to express themselves through art, contributing to a rich cultural narrative that resonates locally and globally.”
The competition’s grand prize—a cash award of one million naira—awaits the winner, promising a substantial boost to their artistic career.
Amzat expressed gratitude to LIRS and FirstBank for their ongoing support, noting that their partnership has been instrumental in promoting creativity and providing a platform for young Nigerian artists to shine.
“Last year’s competition celebrated the talent of an 18-year-old student who took home the top prize, demonstrating the incredible potential of Nigeria’s youth. As anticipation builds for this year’s event, the Arts Challenge continues to provide a space for young artists to hone their skills and make their mark on the Nigerian art scene,” Amzat concluded.
