Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), is leading in 13 local government areas as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) continues to announce the results of Saturday’s governorship election.
The collation exercise was formally opened at 12:10 a.m. on Sunday by the state returning officer Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi vice chancellor of the Federal University, Lokoja, Kogi State.
In the 13 local government areas declared so far, Aiyedatiwa secured victories across the board, including in Idanre Local Government Area, hometown of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) deputy governorship candidate, Festus Akingbaso.
Results breakdown are as follows:
Ifedore LG: APC – 14,157; PDP – 5,897
Ondo East LG: APC – 8,163; PDP – 2,843
Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo LG: APC – 16,600; PDP – 4,442
Idanre LG: APC – 9,114; PDP – 8,940
A PDP agent however alleged irregularities in Ofosun Oniseri and reported ballot snatching in Alade, calling for the exclusion of votes from the ward.
Irele LG: APC – 17,117; PDP – 6,601
Akoko South West LG: APC – 29,700; PDP – 5,517
Owo LG: APC – 31,914; PDP – 4,740
Ondo West LG: APC – 20,755; PDP – 6,387
Akoko South East LG: APC – 12,140; PDP – 2,692
Akoko North West LG: APC – 25,010; PDP – 5,502
Ose LG: APC – 16,555; PDP – 4,472
Akure South LG: APC – 32,969; PDP – 17,926
Akoko North East LG: APC – 25,657; PDP – 5,072
After announcing the results from the 13th local government area, Prof. Akinwumi adjourned the collation exercise.
The process is set to resume at 5 a.m. to declare the results of the remaining five local government areas.
