Grammy nominee Yemi Alade has openly criticised media stations Cool FM and Clout Africa for allegedly blacklisting her music.
In detailed posts shared on her Instagram page on Thursday, the singer shared her frustration, explaining the origins of the fallout.
Yemi claimed that the disagreement began after she missed one of their events in December 2023.
Despite her apologies, she said her efforts at reconciliation were rebuffed by the media houses, leading to ongoing tensions.
Yemi expressed her disappointment at their refusal to accept her apology, accusing them of removing her music from their platforms.
“My God, big pass your whole station @cloutafrica @CoolFMNigeria,” she wrote.
“Keep on forming gate keepers and taking my songs down. NA God be my label and management, we go meet for front. Fake people wey dey feel like small gods.”
Yemi further stressed that she does not seek out conflict but alleged Cool FM and Clout Africa of holding a grudge for a full year
The ‘Johnny’ singer claimed the media houses went so far as to remove her entire catalog from their playlists over her absence at the December event.
According to Yemi, she reached out personally in January but her messages were ignored.
“God go still give me food. You’re beefing an artist for 1 full year, over your event. I didn’t go, too. I apologized and even called your oga, him dey form oga, no even reply my text.”
Addressing individuals within the stations, Yemi wrote, “Mr Serge and Mr Joseph, you see this life no hard like that we see you… I see you. This world is a small village. My God will fight for me… Una dey form gate keepers in 2024.”
Yemi’s post comes as she celebrates a significant milestone in her career, with a Grammy nomination for Best African Music at the upcoming 67th Grammy Awards set to be held on February 2, 2025, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
This marks her first nomination.
