Director of information at the National Assembly’s Secretariat for Research and Information (SR&I) Bullah Bi-Allah has dismissed reports claiming that President Bola Tinubu is scheduled to present the 2025 budget on Wednesday, November 27.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja, Bi-Allah labelled the reports as fake, baseless and unfounded, urging the public to disregard them.
He clarified: “The attention of the Secretary, Research and Information (SR&I), National Assembly, Dr Ali Barde Umoru, has been drawn to the purported fake news credited to him.”
The false reports alleged that Tinubu would present the 2025 budget to a joint session of the National Assembly. Bi-Allah emphasised that such information was untrue.
Bi-Allah noted that the National Assembly has not yet approved the 2024–2026 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper, which were previously submitted by Tinubu. He explained that the approval of the MTEF is a prerequisite for the budget presentation.
He clarified that the MTEF approval would come before the official presentation of the 2025 budget.
The SR&I advised members of the public to rely on official communication channels of the National Assembly for accurate information and warned against the spread of misinformation.
