A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed the fundamental right enforcement suit allegedly filed by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Justice Joyce Abdulmalik struck out the matter after Gbenga Akande, a lawyer who appeared for Sanwo-Olu, moved the motion for the discontinuance of the case.
Lawyer Darlington Ozurumba filed the suit on the governor’s behalf.
EFCC’s lawyer Hadiza Afegbua was surprised when she was informed that the suit was struck out on October 31, NAN reports on Tuesday.
Afegbua refused to speak with journalists.
Mr Ozurumba, allegedly representing Sanwo-Olu, sued the anti-graft agency over alleged threat to arrest, detain and prosecute the governor after his tenure as governor.
However, Lagos State Government said Sanwo-Olu had nothing to do with the suit.
