Musician and social media personality Darlington Okoye better known as Speed Darlington has been re-arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force in Owerri, Imo State.
The arrest was confirmed by human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju who serves as the singer’s counsel.
Adeyanju disclosed the development in a post on his official X page on Wednesday, stating that the musician was apprehended while performing at a show shortly after returning to the country.
“Our client, Speed Darlington, a.k.a AKPI, has been arrested by the Nigeria Police in Owerri at his show upon return to Nigeria,” Adeyanju wrote.
As of the time of this report, the reason for the arrest remains unknown.
Last month, Speed Darlington was detained by the police in Lagos over allegations of cyberstalking fellow musician Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy.
He was subsequently transferred to Abuja and held by the IGP’s intelligence response team in Guzape.
The singer was released on bail days after the initial arrest.
