Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s senior special assistant on new media Jubril Gawat has explained that the trending video of the governor and a young woman is from 2019.
The video, which began trending on Wednesday, shows the woman aggressively asking Mr Sanwo-Olu questions about his housing plans.
Mr Gawat said on X that the incident occurred on January 28, 2019, during a public event organised by Niteshift Coliseum in Opebi, Lagos.
He added that at the time, Sanwo-Olu was a governorship aspirant engaging with attendees in a question-and-answer session.
Gawat wrote, “TRENDING OLD VIDEO: This encounter here happened on January 28, 2019, when Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu was aspiring to be Governor of Lagos State. A young woman stood up to ask a question, just like others had done. She started being rude and raising her voice.”
He noted that Sanwo-Olu did not have any officer from the police or Department of State Services (DSS) attached to him at the time.
Gawat said the event continued peacefully afterwards.
