Super Eagles get Cameroon, Algeria in tough World Cup draw

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been handed a hard task en route to the 2018 FIFA World Cup billed for Russia.

The draw which featured 20 teams from the African continent was held in Cairo, Egypt on Friday.

Caretaker Coach Salisu Yusuf team were drawn in Group B alongside heavyweights Algeria, Cameroon and Zambia.

The three-time African champions, who were seeded in pot 2, must now overcome these three nations who have won six Africa Cup of Nations title between them to stand any chance of qualifying for a sixth World Cup finals.

In the other draws, seven-time African champions, Egypt, face Ghana, Congo and Uganda – while perennial underachievers, Senegal would test their might against South Africa, Burkina Faso and Cape Verde.

There will also be a reunion for Morocco coach Herve Renard, who has been paired with the side he took to the 2015 African Nations Cup title, Cote d’Ivoire, as well as Mali and Gabon.

The qualifiers begin in October 2016 and run till November 2017.
