The Senate has confirmed the nomination of Lt-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede for appointment as chief of army staff (COAS).
The confirmation on Monday followed the consideration of reports by the chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, Yar’Adua Musa (Katsina Central).
Senators unanimously adopted the committee’s recommendations.
Oluyede was appointed to act as COAS on November 1, 2024, following the illness and subsequent death of Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja.
Last week, the House of Representatives confirmed Oluyede for the position.
