Why I relocated to the UK – Tacha

Former Big Brother Naija (BBNaija) housemate Tacha Akide has explained the reasons behind her recent move to the United Kingdom.

In an interview with British media personality Madame Joyce, Tacha cited low pay in Nigeria’s influencing industry as her motivation for relocating, stating that the income does not align with the cost of maintaining the expected lifestyle.

“I relocated to the UK because I have conquered the whole of the Nigerian market. Relocating to the UK doesn’t mean I’m not going to do Nigerian deals. If the offer is good, why not?” she said.

Tacha added, “The influencing scene in Nigeria looks so beautiful, but behind the scenes, it’s not as beautiful as it seems because the money is poor.

“Someone would pay you N6 million, that’s around $3,000, for you to influence for six months and post two videos a month.

“The fee was the same when I left the Big Brother Naija show in 2019, but it made sense then. At least, you could book a plane ticket with it. But right now, $3,000 is nothing.

“N6 million seems good, but when you have to convert it to dollars, travel abroad and spend money to look good, there’s nothing left.”

The reality TV star officially announced her relocation on November 26.

Tacha rose to fame during the 2019 edition of BBNaija but was disqualified following an altercation with a fellow housemate. Since then, she has built a career in entertainment, exploring fashion and working as a radio host at Cool FM.

Recently, Tacha ventured into sports by launching her own football club, Tacha FC.
