Actress Bukunmi Oluwasina has addressed the toxic culture of envy, rivalry and competition among female colleagues in Nollywood, stating that she refuses to hate anyone simply because of external influences.
In an Instagram post on Tuesday, Bukunmi contrasted the camaraderie she observes among male actors with the division often seen among women in the industry.
She expressed admiration for how men support one another, grow together, and celebrate each other’s achievements.
“I envy these men. Just take a look at them. The way they contain each other, support each other, grow together… Their collective growth is evident in how they acknowledge and cheer each other on, despite sharing the same goals,” she wrote.
Bukunmi lamented the pressure to pick sides and the competition fueled by external factors, including fans.
She criticised the idea of turning professional relationships into battles over loyalty stating, “Are we on a battlefield? Okay, if we are, what are we fighting for? Crown? Money? Post? Nice one, which of them are we taking with us when we die?”
The actress emphasised her commitment to maintaining a loving and peaceful attitude, saying she would not engage in petty rivalries or hatred.
“Let it be known that I am at peace with everyone, and this heart has no limitation in love. I am not going to war with anyone for anyone unless they PERSONALLY give me a reason,” she added.
In her caption, Bukunmi also addressed claims of “fake love” in the industry, pointing out that showing love, even imperfectly, is better than harboring division.
She encouraged her colleagues and fans to choose love over bitterness, stating that true love should be shared universally, regardless of how it is received.
“The human heart is capable of showing love to everybody… What it is not capable of is, showing everybody love the same way and on the same level,” she noted.
Bukunmi urged fans to avoid fueling negativity while supporting their favorites, reminding them that “an eye for an eye makes the whole world go blind.”
