Filmmaker Lateef Adedimeji has opened up about his challenging journey to fame and the realities of his marital life in a candid conversation with media personality Chude Jideonwo.

Lateef recounted how, during his early years in the Yoruba movie industry, a mentor doubted his potential, predicting he would fail within a year.

Undeterred, the actor responded confidently, asking to be judged after two years instead.

The actor also addressed the online trolling his wife, actress Mo Bimpe, faces over their lack of children nearly four years into their marriage.

He revealed that she often shares hurtful messages she receives, with trolls labeling her as barren.

“My wife and I have received a lot of trolling. Recently, someone called her barren on social media. She would always show it to me and would say she would be all right.”

Despite the negativity, the couple remains strong, with Lateef expressing gratitude for Mo Bimpe’s support.

“When I wanted to do my first big-screen project, Lisabi, I realized everyone I thought would stand by me was absent,” he said.

“But my wife was there, and she helped me stay confident.”

Lateef also reflected on his early career struggles, recalling how he earned just N4,000 for a lead role.

Now a celebrated actor, he has garnered several accolades, including a nomination for Best Actor in a Lead Role at the 10th AMVCA, though he lost to Wole Ojo.

He previously won acclaim for his performance in Femi Adebayo’s epic movie Jagun Jagun.
