Comedian AY Makun and his estranged wife Mabel Makun, have celebrated their daughter Ayomide on her third birthday.
Taking to Instagram on Thursday, AY shared pictures of Ayomide accompanied by an emotional message reflecting on his love for her and the challenges of their current family dynamic.
“Happy Birthday to my beautiful daughter Ayomide (My Joy Has Come)! Today, I celebrate you turning 3 years old, and even though I do not see you to run around with like I used to, I couldn’t be more grateful for every moment we’ve shared,” AY wrote.
He described Ayomide as a “shining light” and a “precious gift” that came after 13 years of waiting. Acknowledging the strain on his marriage, AY assured his daughter that she remains deeply loved by both her parents.
“Though so many unrepairable occurrences have engulfed the unit we once called family, do know that you are deeply loved by your mum and I,” he added.
Mabel also celebrated Ayomide with a post of her own, writing, “Happy birthday God’s favorite, heaven’s shining star Ayomide MAKUN. We are super grateful to God Almighty for honoring us with your presence in our lives.”
The couple’s marriage ended in 2024 after 15 years together.
In separate statements, they confirmed the separation, with AY admitting their relationship had faced irreparable challenges.
Reflecting on the breakdown of their marriage before the split, AY said, “Yes, without compromising my family, I have found myself doing things I am not proud of today.
“It is one thing to watch my friendship/marriage of 20 years slip off my hands, but it’s another thing for the parties involved to understand how to appropriate the blame… My painful truth will eventually beat away all the lies.”
