Disc Jockey Oluwaforijimi Amu, better known as Jimmy Jatt, has shared details of his health challenges, revealing that he lost his sight in 2020 and was later diagnosed with chronic kidney disease.

The 58-year-old made the disclosure during an appearance on Channels TV’s Rubbin’ Minds with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu. He recounted how his health issues began after deciding to explore life outside Nigeria.

“Maybe I caused it myself,” he admitted.

“In 2019, I decided to spend more time outside Nigeria, having lived all my life in Lagos. I wanted to explore Europe, America, and other parts of the world. But in 2020, I started experiencing health issues. I lost my sight and had to undergo surgery to restore it.”

Following his recovery, Jimmy Jatt relocated to the US to continue his plan of living abroad. However, while there, he was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease and began dialysis.

“Eventually, I returned to Nigeria for a kidney transplant and took time off to fully recover,” he said.

Despite his health struggles, the iconic DJ maintained his passion for music, performing in America and Europe even while receiving treatment.

In December, he returned to Nigeria, ready to embrace life at home once again.

Speaking on the causes of kidney disease, Jimmy Jatt clarified that lifestyle choices are not always to blame.

“I’ve never smoked and had long stopped drinking alcohol,” he explained, attributing his condition to diabetes.

He stressed the importance of health awareness and regular medical checkups.
