Actor Dele Odule has opened up about the most devastating moment of his life—the loss of his first child.

In a recent interview with fellow actor Kunle Afod, the 63-year-old revealed that the tragedy remains the saddest day of his life.

Describing the moment as “very hard” due to the circumstances surrounding the child’s birth, Odule said he had to accept it as God’s will.

“The saddest moment in my life was when I was told my first child died. It was very hard on me,” he shared.

“It was hard because of the situation surrounding the child’s birth. It was so bad, but no one can question the authority of God. I do not pray for such again.”

Beyond his personal loss, Odule shared insights into his family and the artistic talents of his children.

He revealed that while one of his children has a gift for acting and another for singing, he has prioritised their education over early entry into the entertainment industry.

“My children are naturally artistic. One of them has a talent for singing, while another shows potential in acting,” he said.

“However, I’ve made my passion for education clear to them. For now, they are focused on their studies. If they decide to act, it will only happen after they complete their education and become independent.”

Odule met his wife Olabisi, in 1989. The couple initially became friends and later live-in partners before formalizing their union in 1996, after Olabisi completed her university education.

With a career spanning over three decades, Odule began his acting journey with the Oloko Theatre Group under the mentorship of Mukaila Adebisi.
