The family of cancer patient, Mayowa Ahmed, has denied allegation that a campaign launched to raise funds for her treatment was a scam.
According to reports, Mayowa is at an advanced stage of ovarian cancer.
Doctors at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) reportedly informed her family that the case was beyond redemption.
Not willing to give up, the family lunched a GoFundMe campaign which, riding on the endorsement of celebrities like Toyin Aimakhu, raised over N32million for a purported medical treatment in the USA.

That campaign which was launched on Saturday, July 23 attracted 3,400 donors.
Following speculation that the fundraiser could be a scam, the police invited Toyin Aimahku for questioning.Â

A statement by Mayowa’s family, however, says she is receiving treatments that will prepare her for a seven-hour trip to Abu Dhabi for surgery.
“We have also engaged the services of the Flying Doctors to accompany her on the trip based on recommendation by the doctors in LUTH,” they said.
Some members of the patients’ family blame Toyin Aimakhu and blogger, Linda Ikeji, for raising the scam allegation and further endangering Mayowa’s life.
Writing on her blog, Linda said doctors at LUTH refused to give the family a referral for treatment abroad as no hospital could save her.
The family admits that the situation may be serious, but they are not ruling out a miracle.
