Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan have been thrown into mourning following the death of their defender, Izu Joseph.
The charismatic player met his untimely death in his hometown in Okaka, Bayelsa State, after being hit by a stray bullet from the Joint Task Force (JTF) who were engaged in a fierce shootout with Niger Delta militants on Sunday.
Izu was immediately rushed to the hospital but passed away before receiving medical attention.
The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) club confirmed his sad demise via their Twitter handle on Monday.

Izu joined the Oluyole Warriors from Bayelsea United in 2014 when the club was still playing in the second tier of Nigerian football.
He was ever present as the team finished 12th last season and scored a cracker in the 2-1 victory over Nasarawa United.
