Tinny Entertainment rapper, Ycee, has followed the footsteps of pop stars, Davido and Wizkid, by signing a deal with Sony Music Entertainment Africa.
It will see the 23-year-old’s first EP, The First Wave, released under the Sony umbrella.
The excited rapper announced the signing of the deal which took place in South Africa on Instagram on Friday.
“Great things happening, alongside Tinny Entertainment, I’m so proud to become part of the Sony Music family!!” the ‘Jagaban’ hit-maker said.
Talking about the decision to sign Ycee, General Manager, Sony Music West Africa, Michael Ugwu, said “I’m extremely proud to welcome Tinny Entertainment and the amazing talent that is Ycee to the Sony Music Entertainment West Africa family.
“I’ve watched this team grow over the past few years and I am amazed at how they have navigated the industry to reach this stage.
“Ycee is the future of Hip Hop in Africa and will be front Ycee is the future of hip-hop in Africa and we will be front and centre of SME West Africa’s strategy as we take Africa to the world.”
The made a splash on the Nigerian music scene in 2015 and caused quite a stir with singles like ‘Condo’, ‘Jagaban’ and ‘Omo Alhaji’.
He has been nominated in the Best Hip Hop category at MAMA 2016.
Davido signed a deal with Sony in January 2016 while Wizkid signed his in September.
