Personal Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, has pulled out of the the New Media, Citizens & Governance Conference which opened in Abuja on Wednesday.
The presidential aide made the announcement on Twitter on Tuesday.
He was expected to speak on Thursday “Engagement Unusual: Unconventional Uses of New Media”.
His decision to pull out follows the backlash that greeted the inclusion of male cross dresser, Olanrewaju Idris Okuneye (popularly known as Bobrisky), as one of the speakers.
Ya @BashirAhmaad I couldn’t picture you on the same panel with that idiot Bobrisky. Please don’t attend this conference. For Allah, for us??

The session featuring Bobrisky will be moderated by Subomi Plumptre of Alder Consulting with COO of ID Africa and comedian Frank Donga as the other speakers.
Bobrisky is popular on social media, particularly Snapchat, as Nigeria’s male Barbie.
He frequently boasts about making a lot of money from a mystery “bae” and has been interviewed on TV by Adesuwa Onyenokwe and EbonyLife among many others.
The conference is hosted by EiE Nigeria, Paradigm Initiative Nigeria (PIN) and BudgIT, with Facebook and Google as headline sponsors.
