Nigerian choreographer and fitness coach, Kafayat Shafau-Ameh, popularly known as Kaffy, on Wednesday apologised for lashing out at Davido and other artistes whom she accused of disrespecting dancers.
The apology comes hours after the 36-year-old uploaded a video on Instagram raining insults and curses on the pop star for mistreating her dancers at a concert.
In a profanity-laden tirade, Kaffy called out the “Omo Baba Olowo” and others who trample on the rights and dignity of those who helped them climb the ladder of success.
The mother-of-two, however, said a few artistes like P-Square, Tiwa Savage, Darey Art Alade, Flavour and Seyi Shay still “respect our craft.”
Eleven hours after the initial post, Kaffy uploaded another picture showing her and her dancers.
“I want to start by apologizing profusely for my profanity. It’s not how I roll. However this issue is REAL. We MATTER and deserve respect as we have become part of the building block of the entertainment world,” she began.
Saying the ill treatment of dancers did not start with Davido, she said he “was just the last straw”.
“It didn’t start with him but we can put a stop. Thank you to all who support this fight. God bless,” she said.
Kaffy is the founder and owner of Imagneto Dance Company.
She is best known for breaking the Guinness World Records world record for Longest Dance Party at the Nokia Silverbird Danceathon in 2006.
The Yaba College of Technology graduate has served as judge on reality dance shows like Dance with Peter and Maltina Dance All, and was once a faculty member on Project Fame West Africa.
