The accused who are dealers in fairly-used (Tokunbo) wears and whose addresses are unknown, are facing an eight –count charge bordering on conspiracy, breach of public peace, armed robbery and possession of firearm.
The prosecutor, ASP Eranus Nnamonu, had earlier told the court that the accused persons committed the offences on March 27, December 21, 2013, Aug. 7 and Sept. 11of this year.
According to him, the defendants terrorised traders in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State by brandishing their guns and robbing them of their goods.
“The duo on August 7 at 5p.m. at No. 6 Kesta St., Seleru Igbogbo area of Ikorodu robbed one Chukwudi Ezeiji of 72 new tyres valued at N792,000.
“They also robbed at gunpoint one Sunday Ukwandu at No. 4 Wharf Road, Ipakodo in Ikorodu of 200 new tyres valued at N3million and N70,000 in cash.
“Samuel and Nsianya on March 27, 2013, at Wharf Road in Ikorodu, also attacked and robbed one Mrs Abisola Ogunbiyi of LG refrigerators and fans, the values of which are yet to be determined.
“They also robbed one Mrs Busayo Bamimosu and Mrs Alice Ishola at their shops of various items valued at N449,000,” Nnamonu said.
The prosecutor said they were apprehended following a police tip-off.
He said the offences contravened Sections 41, 166, 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011 and Sections 1(2) of Robbery and Firearm Act Cap. 378 of 2003.
The magistrate, Mrs A.R. Onilogbo, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPPs).
