Super Eagles midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi, has joined millions of fans across the globe in paying tribute to FIFA World Cup record goalscorer and former team-mate, Miroslav Klose.
The German all-time leading goalscorer retired from football on Tuesday after a 29-year-old playing career.
The Nigerian international who shared the same dressing room with the Die Mannschaft legend between 2012-2016 while at Lazio, took to Instagram and posted a picture of himself with the German, with the caption “It was a great privilege playing along side with you LEGEND as you say fair well to active football #miroslavklose.”
Klose helped Germany win the World Cup in 2014, becoming the record scorer in the tournament’s history with 16 goals.
The two-time Bundesliga winner with Bayern Munich, who was without a club after his Lazio contract expired last season, is now set to join Germany’s coaching staff after he was handed an invitation from the country’s head coach, Joachim Low.
Onazi, however, has since left the Rome-based club for Turkish side, Trabzonspor.
