Nollywood heavyweight, Richard Mofe-Damijo, on Wednesday took to his Instagram page to disclose how he revived his dreams after eight years of hiatus.
The 55-year-old actor, lawyer and politician took time off the stage to serve as Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Delta State.
Many other stars have gone off the scene as a result of other engagements.
Here are five Nollywood stars that have gone under the radar and need to resuscitate their dreams like RMD.
- Yemi Awomodu
Yemi Awomodu starred in the Yoruba movie, Oga, in 2004. He appeared in Wale Adenuga’s TV series Super Story. In 2006, Awomodu relocated to United Kingdom to study English Language at the London Metropolitan University.
The father-of-three lovely kids currently heads a film production start-up, House of Gold Entertainment (HOGENT). He is also a member of Multinational Performing Artiste (AMPA) in UK.
- Shan George
After her marriage at a tender age of 16, Shan George has been involved in several broken marriages. The controversial actress made her acting debut in the movie, Thorns of Rose, before starring in productions like Outkast and Welcome to Nollywood. The 46-year-old graduate of mass communication from the University Of Lagos delved into music and released her debut studio album titled Dance in 2010.
- Jide Alabi
Jide Alabi left the big screen for sports journalism in 2010. He is currently the manager of radio programmes and sports analyst for Silverbird TV and Rhythm FM. Before his long absence from Nollywood, he appeared in several movies and sitcoms such as Papa Ajasco, Super Story, and Asiri Eko. Recently, Alabi made a quick return to acting after six years with the movie Sade Pepper, which stars him alongside Bimbo Oshin, Funsho Adeolu, and Lanre Hassan.
- Lilian Bach
Lilian Bach, born to a Yoruba mother and a Polish father, started as a model, but made her acting debut in 1997. She has appeared in several Nollywood movies. The pretty thespian starred in Married to a Witch, True Romance, Eja Osan, and Ogidan to name a few.
- Baba Suwe
Babatunde Omidina, aka Baba Suwe, is a veteran actor and comedian. He started his acting career 44 years ago. An Olaiya Igwe produced movie, Eru Esin, brought him into limelight in 1997. The 58-year-old was involved in alleged cocaine trafficking in 2011 and a legal battle ensued between him and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
A Lagos High Court ruling declared the allegation as false and defamatory, but that was not enough to revive Baba Suwe’s dented image. Since then, he has been under the radar amid fears of bankruptcy.
