Afrobeat star, Femi Kuti, has reacted to the statement by his father’s cousin, Prof. Wole Soyinka, before the US presidential polls, in which he vowed to destroy his green card if Donald Trump wins.
Soyinka has been in the eye of the storm as critics have challenged him to make good his promise following Trump’s shock defeat of Hillary Clinton at the polls.
Femi, the first son of Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, has also reacted to the statement by the Nobel Laureate, telling Thenetng “He should quickly tear it. My question is why does he have a green card in the first place?”
The 54-year-old multi-instrumentalist is well travelled and has been nominated for Grammy awards on two occasions for his efforts on ‘Day by Day’ in 2008 and ‘Africa for Africa’ in 2010.
Last month, he revealed that he didn’t support the election of President Muhammadu Buhari despite appeal by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo because the latter jailed his father in 1984.
Soyinka has, however, visited Buhari in the Presidential Villa after his election.
