Social media platform, Twitter, is gradually becoming a haven for Nigerians and the country’s football stars to express their thoughts about life both on and off the pitch.
But much attention seems to be accorded to Super Eagles regulars such as Mikel Obi, Victor Moses and Alex Iwobi while the fringe players seemingly don’t get equal treatment on the 140-character messaging service.
However, some of these players are even more actively involved on the social networking service than many Eagles regulars.
Here are four of them.
- Sunday Mba
Nigeria’s hero at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, Sunday Mba’s career hasn’t particularly followed the route many would have expected. But the 27-year-old who these days play for Malatyaspor in the Turkish league is buzzing on Twitter with 250K followers even more than the likes of Mikel, Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho.
- Nnamdi Oduamadi
- Sone Aluko
Fulham forward, Sone Aluko, last appeared for Nigeria in the 2-2 draw with South Africa in which he struck twice in 2014. But ever since that 2015 AFCON qualifier, the 27-year-old has been snubbed by the national team. However, the player who won the Championship Player for October is still very much busy on Twitter with over 71.5K followers.
- John Ogu
John Ogu is one of Nigeria’s most active players on Twitter with 18K loyal fans who are constantly kept abreast with his personal life. Ogu who was part of the Eagles squad that conquered Algeria 3-1 in a World Cup qualifier is yet to start for the team since 2014.
