Super Eagles forward, Ahmed Musa, and his Leicester City teammates have made history following their progress to the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League.
The Foxes sealed their place in the knockout stage of Europe’s elite club competition after beating Club Brugge 2-1 on Tuesday.
Shinji Okazaki and Riyad Mahrez goals were enough for the home side despite Jose Izquierdo pulling one back for the Belgians.
They thus become the first English side to progress beyond the group stage in their debut campaign.
Claudio Ranieri’s side also has more points in the UCL (13) than they do in the Premier League (12) and have sealed top spot with a game to spare.
Musa who had featured thrice in the tournament was conspicuously missing in action at the King Power Stadium.
The 24-year-old watched on from the sideline as his teammates cruised to victory.
Speaking after the encounter, Ranieri revealed how he intends to bring the best out of the Nigerian.
“We have a bigger squad, but we have to make sure they are fine for the business end of the season which is around the corner,” the Italian said.
“There are a lot of games and Musa is among the set of players, who will be integral when we have to play two games within hours.”
Musa who struck twice before the international break will be hoping to the starting lineup when Middlesbrough come visiting in the league on Saturday.
