Super Eagles star, Ogenyi Onazi, has thrown his weight behind protesting Super Falcons by donating a million Naira to them.
The Nigerian ladies are yet to receive their match bonuses and allowances after clinching a record eight African Women Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
They had been in a sit-in protest before storming the National Assembly and Aso Villa on Wednesday to get the immediate attention of the country’s top government officials.
According to Africanfootball, Onazi was moved by the plight of the team who were reportedly being owed over $20,000 each.
“Onazi is a fantastic man and supported the Falcons with the sum of one million Naira, that really helped the ladies,” a source said on Thursday.
“He also gave one of the injured players N200,000 for her treatment.
“He is a wonderful guy. I was aware some of the girls called him to complain about their plight and he helped them.”
It is still unclear whether the Federal Government has settled the ladies after President Muhammadu Buhari gave an order to that effect on Wednesday..
