Organisers have promised adequate security for the tenth edition of GOtv Boxing Night holding at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Lagos, on December 26.
Managing Director, Flykite Promotions, Jenkins Alumona, assured that fans have nothing to fear when they come for the event.
“Security has always been great attention at every edition of GOtv Boxing Night. We have decided to make the arrangements firmer. Fans, the soul of the sport, need to be safe to enjoy themselves.
“One of our partners, K-Square Security, is the leading security firm in the country. K-Square is vastly experienced in the handling of mega events GOtv Boxing Night. There is nothing to fear,” said Alumona.
A total of seven bouts are scheduled for GOtv Boxing Night 10, including two title deciders.
Nigeria’s Stanley “Edoboy” Eribo will confront Meshack Mwankemwa of Tanzania for the African Boxing Union Welterweight title.
Olaide “Fijaborn” Fijabi will attempt to defend his West African Light Welterweight title against Raphael “Kwabena” King of Ghana. Both boxers fought at GOtv Boxing Night 9, where Fijabi won via a split decision.
Another big fight of the night will see arch-rivals, Oto “Joeboy” Joseph and Nurudeen “Prince” Fatai, take on each other for the third time.
Also on the night, national featherweight champion, Waidi “Skoro” Usman will confront former champion, Dare “Fighting Machine” Oyewole in a challenge duel
Other bouts scheduled are Kabiru “KB Godson” Towolawi, vs. Emmanuel “Man Mopol” Igwe, Rilwan “Babyface” Babatunde, vs. Sikiru “Omo Iya Eleja” Shogbesan and Rilwan “Real One” Oladosu vs. Prince “Lion” Nwoye
The best boxer at the event, to be broadcast live by SuperSport in 47 African countries, will go home with a cash prize of N1.5million.
Music will also be part of the event, with hip-hop artiste, Small Doctor, performing live
