Nigerians have continued to react over the appalling start to the new Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season in which FC IfeanyiUbah abandoned their clash with Kano Pillars on Saturday.
Tipped as the ultimate game to kickstart an entertaining season, all road led to the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, with Governor Abdullahi Ganduje among the long roll call of dignitaries.
However, the encounter took a shocking twist after the visitors walked away from the pitch citing irregularities on the part of the officials led by Folusho Ajayi.
At this point, Pillars were in front while IfeanyiUbah has had a couple of calls go against them.
Angry Nigerians immediately called out the visitors’ management for encouraging such high level of indiscipline.
But many have turned their axes on the referee after watching several questionable calls which were made against the Anambra Warriors.
Here’s what some had to say.
Ref Foluso Ajayi(Oyo State),
Ask God for forgiveness & quit refereeing immediately…blowing your whistle while the freekick is goal bound? https://t.co/YeQzFHv8RN— Oluwatoyin Ibitoye (@Toyin_Ibitoye) January 16, 2017
@K1Says @LMCNPFL @FCIfeanyiUbah that was a pathetic officiating

@mekus_mekus @fcifeanyiubah @k1says @lmcnpfl by letting the free kick to be taken finish before, before calling for half time.

@K1Says @LMCNPFL. Poor! Abandonment though is not an option. You will also agree with me that some calls in the EPL this season ranks equal.

@K1Says would the ref. had blown for half time if it was pillars. Though not a reason for abandoning a game. @LMCNPFL @FCIfeanyiUbah
