Man can’t last. And the reason is simple. We have abdicated our God-given roles and inverted our self-defined model of survival. We have come very far from the days of naked, free and happy Adam. We are no longer free or happy, but thankfully we are not playing the blame game like our ancestor Adam did. Adam could not control his libido and thought with the head between his legs. Man continues to think mostly from down below. And that is a problem even though it should have been a strength. To this day, his descendants have followed his playbook to the letter. Nothing strange or unexpected about that.
Thing is Adam and Eve played naughty and Father God would have none of it; so he threw them out of their inheritance. We are lucky that same Father God has mellowed. Otherwise there’d be no human left alive. The serpent? Some deeply hating Christians still use the phallus/serpent analogy to warn young girls off boys. Unfortunately, it didn’t work in the beginning. It still does not work today. If you say don’t do it, man and woman won’t rest until they have. In short, the natural way of things is that laws are made so they can be broken.
The bible says God made man in His own image. And man became the inspiration for making woman. Hmmm.
Things have changed and remained the same since the days of Adam. They have changed and remained the same since the days of Jesus too. The evolution of man is a worn out topic. Has man evolved positively or negatively? It depends on who you choose to listen to. There are a lot of theories and stories to explain how we got here. One thing is for sure; man has over time created, defined and handicapped his own god. In other words, Man has replaced God as the god of man. God’s laws stopped being enough for us a long time ago. That is what happens when the only law you got on creation morning was; beware of the woman – don’t eat her fruit.
Man has inverted the original ways of nature. But nature didn’t get the memo because she still broods no competition. Man’s ways are clearly not nature’s ways. We have sought and it has come with pains. Our negation of our very nature means that we now fall sick and die by diseases we name ourselves. We are blind and brain dead. We are in competition with a phenomenon that precedes and will outlive us. We are fighting a lost battle but we don’t care. And this isn’t just about global warming or all that jazz either. This is about our bodies and the future of our race.
Man’s ways are at odds with the God’s ways. He made us in his image but we are now far from his shadow. Everything he dislikes, we like. And what He likes, we dislike.
There was order in nature before man came in and turned natural order to man-made order. Man believes himself to be the most intelligent being on earth when time and again he has had to stoop low to learn different things from some of the tiniest of God’s creatures; ants.
Man forces laws on himself even when God does not do him the injustice of limiting him. Like the great architects and builders of the tower of Babel, man builds for himself the ability to fly far away in search of his creator in the heavens; believing that that is where He is to be found. Most times he does find Him there when his adventures end up in fiery balls of fire.
Man marries. A waste of human resources. And a direct negation of God’s proclamation to Go forth and multiply. On top of that, man does family planning forgetting that the greatest family planner of all time is God himself. Check out the second family, Joseph (God), Mary and Jesus (J(G)MJ). On Facebook, Mary would have probably described her relationship status as “It’s complicated”.
Man creates and builds; heals and gives life. Like God. Man may not be able to plant souls in men it created but mark my words, as sure as the sun will shine tomorrow, whether I’m here or not, man will one day unravel the mystery of the soul and begin mass producing it. Already, genes have been fully mapped. And we are fixing up ourselves to live forever. Man is about to throw God out of a job by being his own creator. What would God do?
The end of man is near. But then so is the glorious age of man. With technology making us so far advanced and the opportunity to go farther never been more available, man will not be held back. Nothing today will be remaining in another 100 years as we march on inexorably to the beginning of our end. We are going round full circle (and at full speed) to the day it all started. We will find our creator and demand it make us better. Or we will just make ourselves better.
“Wise men” in the past have “seen” the end of man; the end of the world. But what they may have missed is how best to describe what they saw in the end. Man has written about himself severally and ascribed to a higher power what he has written to give it potency; after all, we are all afraid of the dark. So it’s easy for a few smart men to tether us to the stake with creations of their imaginations; categorically giving name and form to what is at the back of our sealed eyes.
Man is not God. Man is not devil. Man is man. A confused thing learning every day. Learning how to use what was made for his use on Day One. But sadly, as he learns, he destroys.
We can’t last much longer. And it will be our fault. For we will be the death of ourselves.
