Super Eagles captain, Mikel Obi, has labelled former Chelsea teammate, John Terry, a “true Football legend and a brilliant captain” following announcement that the latter will depart the club at the end of the season.
He made the statement in an Instagram post on Thursday.
The duo spent a decade together at Stamford Bridge and were Chelsea’s longest serving players until Mikel left in January to join Chinese club, Tianjin TEDA, on a free transfer.
Together, they won eight major domestic honours plus two European trophies in west London.
Terry, a former England captain, has spent his whole career to date with the Stamford Bridge giants having joined the youth ranks in 1995.
After 22 years of loyal service which have delivered 713 appearances, including a record 578 as skipper, the 36-year-old will move on once his current contract expires.
He retired from international football in 2012 after winning 78 England caps and signed a one-year contract extension with the Blues in May 2016.
