Lionel Messi’s friendship with Cesc Fabregas continues to blossom as the pair decided to go on a family holiday together this summer.
The two former Barcelona team-mates, along with their families, were a picture of contentment as they relaxed on the island of Formentera on Thursday.
Messi was pictured wading into the water with his long-term partner Antonella Roccuzzo, while Fabregas and girlfriend Daniella Semaan soon followed suit.
Both superstars were enjoying the sunshine just as much as their children, as they relaxed on the family holiday after a hectic season.
Fabregas and Messi were Barcelona team-mates for three seasons between 2011 and 2014 where they won four major honours together – including La Liga and the Copa del Rey.
Fabregas subsequently joined Chelsea in the summer of 2014 while Messi remains at Barcelona.
The intention for the Argentine superstar is to stay at the La Liga giants for the rest of his career, having joined the Nou Camp side as a teenager.
Both parties are hoping to conclude a new five-year deal before Messi’s 30th birthday on June 24.
While Messi is expected to sign a new contract with Barca, Fabregas’ career could be somewhat more uncertain.
The Spanish international was a bit-part player under Antonio Conte at Chelsea last season and may look to guarantee first-team football elsewhere.
But nonetheless, the former Arsenal skipper seemed unperturbed as he enjoys some quality with his friend, Messi and family.
