Cheating doesn’t make men bad, Funke Adesiyan tells women

Yoruba actress Funke Adesiyan

A day after advising women not to leave their men over infidelity, Yoruba actress, Funke Adesiyan, returned to social media on Friday with the message that cheating does not make a man bad.

The Eti Keta actress caused a stir on Thursday after writing on Instagram that “Leaving a man because he cheats is like relocating from Nigeria to America because of rain. News flash: it rains everywhere. Find a good man who loves you and appreciates you. Every other thing can be worked on. Men are naturally born to cheat. Look beyond this flaw and focus on how he treats you.”

Expectedly, the post generated a lot of comments, prompting her to return with a longer version the next day.

Dismissing the women who spoke up in defence of their men, Adesiyan insisted that cheating happens everywhere.

“It’s only those who got caught that are referred to as offenders,” she argued, adding, “Not many men can sincerely say they have been with only their partner for 10 years without ‘playing’.

She concluded her sermon with the advice “It (cheating) doesn’t make them bad people, it just makes them men.

Good morning guys. I read many comments from my last post and I couldn’t stop laughing. It’s funny that it’s women who are answering for their men that the men don’t cheat on them. My sisters, let the men answer for themselves. The truth is a bitter pill to swallow. You cannot answer for people. I stand by my position 100%. I know that as a modern woman, we aim to break away from the norm and be as westernised as possible but believe me, it happens everywhere. It’s only those who got caught that are referred to as offenders. Not many men can sincerely say they have been with only their partner for 10yrs without “playing”. It doesn’t make them bad people, it just makes them men. #factfile #nofilter #skingoals

The actress who failed in her bid to win election to the Oyo State House of Assembly in 2015 is known to have had an affair with fellow actor, Saidi Balogun, in the last days of his marriage to Fathia Balogun.

She was once quoted as describing marriage as a sham.

“I rather appreciate two lovers appreciating one another without any imprisonment,” she said while reacting to the news that a female lawyer allegedly killed her husband in Ibadan over infidelity.
