Wife of the Ooni of Ife, Olori Wuraola Ogunwusi, on Friday led some Nollywood actresses and other celebrities in a walk against domestic violence.
The walk, which began at Falomo Roundabout in Ikoyi, Lagos, terminated on Victoria Island.
Among those who took part were Tonto Dikeh and Mercy Aigbe, two Nollywood actresses whose marriages recently crashed over allegation of domestic violence among others.
Actress, Foluke Daramola, who famously revealed that she lost her virginity to a rapist was also among the marchers, as was spokesperson of the Zone 2 Police Command, Dolapo Badmos.
Other celebrities in attendance include Annie Idibia, Monalisa Chinda, Toke Makinwa and Sola Sobowale.
Using the tag, 1 in 3 Africa Campaign, Olori Ogunwusi describes her project as a call to action to spread awareness to end domestic violence.
“It is our God-given right, not just to show empathy towards victims, but to set forth action to help them find their voice.
“Silencing the abused is also a form of abuse. Men also have a crucial role to play in speaking out against violence.
“This awareness also includes demanding a change of the cultural and social stigmas that perpetuate the problem. Together, we can help those who need us,” she said about the initiative.
