Ex-Green Eagles star, Kelechi Emeteole, will be laid to rest on Friday, August 18, in his home town, Isiukwuator, Abia State.
Emeteole passed away last month while receiving treatment for cancer in India at the age of 66.
His corpse has since been flown to Owerri, Imo State and deposited in an undisclosed mortuary.
Emeteole made his mark for the defunct Spartans of Owerri and equally coached the club when it metamorphosed into Heartland.
Under his tutelage, the club reached the 2009 CAF Champions League final, losing on away goal rule to the TP Mazembe after a 2-2 aggregate scoreline.
He also had stints at El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri and Enugu Rangers.
Due to health conditions, Emeteole stepped down from his technical advisory role at Rangers in 2015, paving way for his deputy, Imama Amakapabo, to fill the void.
The young gaffer would go on to end the Flying Antelopes’ domestic drought barely one year after.
In the national fold, Emeteole served as assistant to Sabastine Brodricks-Imasuen as the country clinched the maiden edition of the FIFA U17 World Cup in China.
He was also at different time assistant coach of the U20 national team as well as the senior team, the Super Eagles.
There will be a service of song and Christian wake-keep at his Owerri residence prior to his burial.
