Theatre legends, Moses Olaiya, better known as Baba Sala, and Kareem Adepoju (Baba Wande), were on Friday inducted into the Movie and Music Makers Hall of Fame at the National Theatre, Lagos.
The event was put together by veteran filmmaker, Eddie Ugbomah.
Others inducted include chief executive officers of Corporate Pictures, Abdullahi Abdul Rasaq, and High Wave, Aina Kusoro.
Movie director, Opa Williams, and musician, Felix Duke, also made the list
Ugbomah, who lamented lack of corporate sponsorship for the event, said only those who have spent a minimum of 20 years in the creative industry are inducted.
“You must have immense contributions to the development of both society and the organisation to qualify,” he said.
He added that he was inspired to set up the hall of fame because “these veteran movie and music makers are not recognised by the government. Some physically are not known to the society even when walked by.”
He added that photos and biodata of inductees will be made available in the library and museum so that history does not end.
Ugbomah also expressed his anger and disappointment at those who were absent at the event.
“Pride has eaten into some of the inductees who were absent from the event, and some felt too big to come out and honour the hall of fame,” he lamented.
When asked if the absentees will be reconsidered, he said, “of course yes but they will have to wait another 10 years to be inducted or we may organise a quick event in order to receive their certificate.”
Ugbomah conceived the idea of a Hall of fame came in 2004 and the first induction was held in 2006.
The last edition was held in 2009.
