Publisher of Ovation International magazine, Dele Momodu, has weighed in on the short-lived marriage of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and former Olori Wuraola.
In a message posted on Instagram on Wednesday, the celebrity journalist disclosed that the ex-queen confided in him about her immediate and future plans.
Momodu’s message was posted shortly before the woman who now wishes to be referred to as Queen Zaynab officially announced that her marriage to the monarch was over.
“Thanks for vowing not to disrespect the revered throne of Oduduwa, the progenitor of the Yoruba race,” the 57-year-old wrote, before adding that marriage breakup “comes with painful stress and traumatic strain”.
In an official statement released shortly after Momodu’s post, the ex-Ife queen wrote: “The throne is sacred and the attempts to tarnish the name of a Queen in defence or on behalf of a silent King make all involved look terrible.”
Adeyeye and Zaynab got married in March 2016.
Their marriage lasted all of 17 months.
