President Muhammadu Buhari was greeted by thousands of supporters at the Daura airstrip in Katsina State on Wednesday as has arrived his hometown for Eid-el-Kabir.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the Nigerian Air Force helicopter conveying the president and members of his immediate family landed at the airstrip at 4:45 pm on Wednesday.
Buhari was received at the airstrp by Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Farouk, politicians and thousands of well-wishers.
Looking healthy and radiant, the President smiled as he waved to the mammoth crowd.
He abandoned his motorcade as a large number of people had already gathered around the helipad, snaking all the way to his house.
An elated crowd cheered as the President walked home, screaming “baba ya da wo, baba oyoyo”, meaning “baba is back, welcome home”.
President Buhari was earlier received at the airport in Katsina by the Executive Governor of Katsina State, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari, and the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, before he was airlifted with a chopper to Daura.
