Nigerian author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, has denied pro-Biafra agitation statements credited to her by some dubious publications.
The 39-year-old author of Igbo origin made the rebuttal in a Facebook post on Monday.
Chimamanda, according to the false reports, had claimed she was a Biafran, not a Nigeria,
Referencing one of such false articles, she wrote: “This headline below, and other similar headlines, which appeared on some websites are false.
“They are completely invented; along with some accompanying quotes which have been attributed to me, I did not say or write those words.”
Chimamanda’s second novel, Half of a Yellow Sun (2006), named after the flag of the short-lived nation of Biafra, is set before and during the Nigerian Civil War.
It received the 2007 Orange Prize for Fiction and the Anisfield-Wolf Book Award.
