Oluwatosin Ajibade, the singer better known as Mr Eazi on Thursday shared a throwback picture of the $6000 per month job he claimed to have abandoned to focus on music.
Controversy started when the 26-year-old said on Beat FM’s Morning Rush show that he left the job in the oil and gas sector and also sold phones at Computer Village, in Ikeja, Lagos before he became a hit.
His words: “After I came back from Ghana, I got a job in an oil and gas in Port Harcourt that paid about six thousand dollars per month but I quit because I was not finding fulfilment in it.
“I mean it was the same thing every day, the same routine over and over again. The decision to quit the job finally hit me when my boss’ wife left him even with all the money he had.
“After I left my job, I got my master’s degree and with all that qualification I started selling phones in computer village and everyone thought something was wrong with me.”
Expectedly, many people did not believe he left a high paying job because of music and some asked him for proof.
That prompted ‘Leg Over’ singer to share a throwback picture of him while he was working at Schlumberger, one of the world’s largest oilfield services company.
That apparently did not satisfy some fans, with one digging out a LinkedIn profile claiming Mr Eazi worked at Schlumberger as an intern.
With critics posting negative comments, the singer was forced to disable the comment section of the post to prevent further trolling.
