Gunmen on Monday attacked the palace of the Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji, during the installation of some Baales.
Four men in a black Toyota Sienna stormed the palace around 11:45 am and opened fire repeatedly; shattering the window of cars parked in front of the palace.
Three journalists – Olufemi Atoyebi, Demola Babalola and Jeremiah Oke – escaped death during the attack.
So did a chieftain of Labour Party and former Secretary to the Oyo State Government, Sharafadeen Alli.
Alli, who is the Asaju Balogun Olubadan of Ibadan land, was inside the car when bullets hit the vehicle.
They were there for about 10 minutes until they sped off towards the Molete end of Popoyemoja.
Tribune Online reported that one of the attackers fell off their car but kept on shooting sporadically to ward off arrest.
The shooting, however, did not stop Oba Adetunji from going ahead with the coronation inside the palace
