Sesor Empowerment Foundation will on Wednesday, October 25 at Freedom Park, Lagos Island celebrate resilient women.
The event with the theme “Sesor Day of the Survivor: Celebrating the Resilient Women” is part of the organisation’s rehabilitation work in economically empowering displaced women currently seeking refuge in Lagos.
Last September, Sesor launched its economic empowerment programme for displaced women, as part of the rehabilitation programme in Lagos (in partnership with Grooming Centre) and Maiduguri (in partnership with First City Monument Bank) with over 100 women currently enrolled.
Sesor has said that the Wednesday event is coming on the heels of the successful launch of the empowerment programme and to celebrate the success of the women in Lagos.
In a statement signed by Ier Jonathan, the foundation said, “this is our day set aside to celebrate the amazing displaced women we have been economically empowering since last year, through our partnership with our micro finance non-governmental organisation (NGO) partner, Grooming Centre.
“We will be disbursing more funds to more displaced women on that day to support their livelihoods, celebrating the resilient Nigerian spirit and hearing some of the stories of survivors. This event is proudly supported by Grooming People for Better Livelihoods Centre AND Greensprings Schools.”
Registered in 2010, Sesôr works to empower survivors of emergencies for a better life by providing relief materials during emergencies and advocating for survivors of emergencies as well as supporting rehabilitation of survivors and their families.
