Nigerian rapper, Oludemilade Alejo, better known as Ycee, on Tuesday took time out to advise other artistes to beware of so-called major record labels.

The 24-year-old claimed in messages posted on Twitter that his career was almost ruined by such outfits, but he was lucky to have had a plan b.

Many artistes, the ‘Jagaban’ rapper added, stay silent thereby making others fall victim.

He has, however, chosen to make his voice heard.

This comes two months after Ycee accused General Manager of Sony Music West Africa, Michael Ugwu, of ripping artistes off via its digital music distribution and streaming.

Ugwu responded to the allegation, telling the rapper that there are better means of resolving disputes rather than social media.

Ycee has had an impressive personal year, with his ‘Juice’ becoming a hit and spending weeks as the most played song on Nigerian radio.

The marine biology student at the University of Lagos signed a record deal with Sony Music in December 2016.
